| Year 11s v North Axholme |
| A disappointing night for the year 11 boys football team, as they went down 6-2 at home to a strong North Axholme team. Despite going 2-0 down early on, the High Ridge team looked to be battling back with a goal from Damon Ruscoe, but Axholme were quick on the break and punished defenses mistakes. Full match report to follow in the PE section on the website.

| Business Breakfast |
|
High Ridge School students, Ryan White, Dominic Houghton and Ben Foster, were asked by Ruth Kitching from Humber EBP (Education Business Partnership) to give a presentation at their Business Breakfast at The Wortley Hotel on Friday 12 October, 2007.
One of the purposes of the Breakfasts is to give schools the opportunity to link with businesses. One of the successes that come through business engagement is Pupils in Enterprise Days.
Ryan, Dominic and Ben all participated in the Young Enterprise Personal Economics Programme which ran over five one hour sessions after school. These students gave a five minute powerpoint presentation about "The Personal Economics Programme" and what they gained from the course.
All three students prepared an excellent presentation and presented confidently to all those in attendance. We were extremely proud of their professional manner and how well each one of them interacted with Business and Educational professionals. They even got a personal invitation to RAF Scampton due to one of their staff being in attendance.

| Internet Rangers |
|
On November the 17th the school put on an Internet Rangers Day. This day was designed to allow students to teach their Grandparents, parents’, aunties or uncles how to complete advanced searches on the Internet. In preparation for this day the students completed complex searches using Google in lesson. They then showed their parents or grandparents how to do advanced searches and take screen shots of what was on the computer monitor and place this in a table.
The students had the opportunity to set their parents/grandparents homework and fill in a report card to say how well they had done.
Both the student and the parents said it had been a brilliant experience and really enjoyed the role reversal that took place.

There will be more opportunities for IT family learning in the future. The benefits are obvious; learning together not only improves everyone’s skills knowledge and understanding but also helps to develop students’ confidence and enjoyment and boosts skills which will then be used in all areas of school and beyond. So if you get the chance to join in, please do!

| International Flavours |
| The 9th International Flavours evening at High Ridge School was a fantastic success. After an amazing 2006 performance, who would have thought it could get any better? 2007 provided outstanding entertainment through different cultures and talents. After so much hard work went into both the organisation and performance, pupils at both High Ridge School and other local schools and colleges can feel very proud with their achievements. Here's looking forward to International Flavours 2008!
